The Sand Wasp is a close support vessel to the Dust Hornet, and is classified as a heavy gunship. It relies on lasers, bullet missile launchers, and Thionic weaponry that can switch modes between firing pure energy (cannon form) and sucking the life out of rivals. To confuse unfortunate enemy pilots, the Sand Wasp has blinder lamps on the front of the body.
The Sand Wasp has three bullet missile launchers in the back of the fuselage, unlike the mostly undefended back of the Dust Hornet, which relies on its Thionic weapons for defence. Though Thionic weapons are good defence, they are not best to use from behind where there is less control. This is one reason the Sand Wasp is needed for close support.
